- Dialogue answers should be short, polite, and relevant
- Know how to ask for help at a travel agency
Section 1Travel agency vocabulary
A travel agency is la agencia de viajes. Useful words include el viaje, el billete, el boleto, el pasaporte, la reserva, el precio, la fecha, and el hotel. Watch out: some Spanish-speaking places use billete and others use boleto for ticket.
Section 2Useful questions
You may ask ¿Cuánto cuesta? for How much does it cost? ¿A qué hora sale? for What time does it leave? and Quisiera reservar... for I would like to reserve.... These phrases are enough for simple Grade 9 dialogues.
Section 3Polite dialogue
Use buenos días, por favor, gracias, and quisiera to sound polite. Here's the trick: in a dialogue, answer the question asked; do not write a random memorised sentence.
Section 4Key details
Travel agency conversations usually involve destination, date, time, price, transport, hotel, or ticket. In plain words, listen or read for the travel details.
Examples
Ask: How much does the ticket cost?
Use ¿Cuánto cuesta...? The answer is ¿Cuánto cuesta el billete?
Complete a short travel agency line: Good morning. I would like to reserve a trip to Cuba.
A natural answer is Buenos días. Quisiera reservar un viaje a Cuba.
Now let's water it
