Conscience is the inner sense of right and wrong. A leader of conscience acts because they believe something is morally right, even when it is difficult. Watch out: courage does not always mean violence; it can mean patient service or peaceful protest.
Section 2Gandhi and Yunus
Mahatma Gandhi is known for non-violent resistance against injustice. Muhammad Yunus is known for microfinance, helping poor people access small loans to improve their lives. Both show that social change can come through disciplined action.
Section 3Tutu, Mandela, and apartheid
Apartheid was a system in South Africa that separated and discriminated against people by race. Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela challenged apartheid and worked for justice, dignity, and reconciliation. Mandela also became South Africa's first Black president after apartheid.
